These are my favorite pen-and-pencil puzzles…
Conceptis puzzles:
I’ve been solving these for a few years now. Been addicted, went through withdrawal and now I got it under control; I only solve one puzzle a week.
There are a few kinds of puzzles that conceptis offers, all of them are culturally unbiased and simple to pick up. My favorite is pic-a-pix because it requires the most thought. Although these puzzles get tedious at times they are very interesting because at the very end an image appears from the blank page. It may take several hours to complete a big one of these.
Conceptis also offers a weekly puzzle to solve and review for a shot at a t-shirt. You can also learn how to solve each type of puzzle online.
Give it a try, but remember, they are highly addictive and great for killing time on flights!
Sudoku:
I’ve just recently started solving those (thanks to Nir Dahan) and they get challenging at times. Culturally unbiased and simple to understand, but may take an hour or two to complete.
They too have a monthly challenge.
